Process and Timeline Delays

Hurry up and wait…

What is with these darn delays??

Almost as if, by grand design or willful ignorance, the claims process has been made more and more difficult over the last couple of years. Adjusters are often taking weeks and even months sometimes just to reply to our email containing our supplemental estimate. Once they finally reply we can often tell they read almost none of our estimate nor thoroughly investigated reasonable claims as outline in the Arizona Revised Statutes. That’s right, they are required by law to do so and still reply with a bunch of canned carrier “guidelines” refusing to pay for items clearly cited and justified by state law.

I tell you this because the claims process is taking longer and longer for claims to be responded to and approved. We want your roof installed yesterday believe me! We are very open that we want to make two things, happy customers and money. We only make money after the project is installed and paid in full because the large amounts of depreciation initially withheld from the claim. The longer it takes, the more costs we incur over time fighting the claims; all for items they pay for eventually because the law requires it. They even know it and still needlessly add delays. I have personally had the same adjuster argue the same codes and line items in the same neighborhood on the same date of loss on the same type of policy knowing they just approved it for another claim on the house across the street.

We want to be very clear that these delays are not due to us but rather the large amounts of time it takes just to get an adjuster to respond to our emails, call, or even cooperate with contacting us and not just calling you, the insured, directly. This is one of the reasons you are required to disclose any and all communication from the carrier regarding the claim.

The best thing you can do if you are concerned with the amount of time the project is taking is to call your adjuster and inquire about the emails your contractor has been sending regarding your claim and demand timely resolution or you will be filing a compliant with the Arizona Department of Insurance. You will have been cc’d on all of our email communications so you have proof we submitted and the time and date which we submitted it. As I said before, we are a full disclosure company and have nothing to hide.
